BAKER STREET
COTTAGES
Baker Street, in the early 20th century was an outbuilding of Applecross House, where the bread was baked.
A combination of decay and water ingress meant that full refurbishment was the only solution for this derelict building, used in most recent times as an outbuilding for storage of farm equipment.
Restoration was a major project and the stages of transformation can best be seen in the surrounding pictures.
The end result has provided 2 very comfortable, compact semi-detached cottages now let to local residents. One has 2 bedrooms, the other three.
There is a significant need for housing in Applecross and projects such as the restoration of Baker Street are addressing that issue. The Trust has plans in the pipeline for other, similarly derelict and disused, properties. |
